Please join us in congratulating 2023 Champion for kids award recipient: Laurie Clarke
"When I hear the phrase "Champion for kids", the first person that comes to mind is Laurie Clarke, LMSW. Not only is she a true advocate for the teens she works with at Lakeview, but also for any individual who she interacts within our community.
Wherever she is serving in the community, she is every kid's biggest fan-unlimited, unconditional encouragement, always ready with a kind word, warm hug, or her smile that seems to say- you're doing an amazing job and you've got this. One of Laurie's superpowers is making everyone she comes into contact with feel this way- supported, cared for, and capable.
She shows up for the students and continues to show up when things are tough. Laurie chooses to see the best in every person she meets, so much so they begin to see it themselves. Everything Laurie did is done with integrity and kindness."

Please help us honor Maggie Kromm for all she has done over the years to forward the mission of the CAPE Council.
"As long as I have known Maggie she has been living her life in a way that exemplifies the Protective Factors and has demonstrated a deep commitment to the well being of children and families in our community. She was the director of the CAPE Council for 10 years. She expanded the council's presence in the community educating hundreds of families at the Childrens' Health Fairs, brought awareness of Protective Factors and focus on family strengths through the "what makes your family strong" coloring and essay contests, delivered concrete needs, support and fellowship through coordinating "love of laundry" nights and educated scores of professionals in ACEs training.
Personally, Maggie also lives out the values of the CAPE Council.
Talking to Maggie, you will find a person who is interested in you, warm and welcoming, but you will not hear her speak of her accomplishments and hard work as she gives humbly for the sake of giving, not for the sake of recognition. "
